David L. Gemmer

Managing Principal

An investment expert who has been purchasing investments for his clients for more than 30 years, Dave is the founder and managing principal of Gemmer. He works with advisors as a portfolio manager and sits on the firm’s investment committee. In addition to his work with clients, Dave has been a guest lecturer at the University of California (Berkeley and Davis), has been a featured speaker at International Association of Financial Planners’ events and frequently addresses local businesses and organizations.  He also has served on Charles Schwab’s Institutional Service Group Advisory Board. Dave received an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Santa Clara (1967) and a B.S. in engineering/business from Purdue University (1964).

Charles Blankley, CFA

Principal / Chief Investment Officer

Charles came to Gemmer in 2000 and today serves as the firm’s Chief Investment Officer. He leads the investment committee, is responsible for the tactical positioning of our portfolios and supports financial advisors and their clients as a portfolio manager. Charles is a CFA^® charterholder, and received his B.A. in finance and economics from the University of Washington (1992).

Scott Gemmer, CFA

Principal/Portfolio Manager

Scott became part of the Gemmer staff just a year after the firm was founded (1993). He sits on Gemmer’s investment committee and supports financial advisors and their clients as a portfolio manager. Scott is a CFA® charterholder and received his B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara (1992). When not working with clients, he enjoys running, coaching high school softball, spending time with family, and watching horror movies.

Brian Gemmer

Principal/Portfolio Manager

Brian joined Gemmer in 2005 and today serves as the firm’s Director of Business Development. He sits on the investment committee and supports financial advisors and their clients as a portfolio manager. Before coming to Gemmer, Brian was a partner and portfolio manager for GlobeFlex Capital, an institutional money management firm in San Diego, CA. He graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in finance and information management (1997) from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Anna Ton Ng

Associate Partner / Director of Operations

Anna joined Gemmer in 2006 as an Operations Associate and today serves as the Director of Operations. She is responsible for client services, operations, updating procedures and compliance testing. Anna received an M.B.A. in finance from Golden Gate University (2005) and a B.S. in business administration with a concentration in business law from the University of the Pacific (2003). Before joining Gemmer, she was a registered representative at E*TRADE Financial with a Series 7 and 63 license (no longer active). In her free time, Anna enjoys traveling, watching anime movies and is an avid foodie.  

Michael Mischler, CFA

Associate Partner / Portfolio Manager

Michael joined the Gemmer team in 2013 as a Research Associate. His responsibilities include working with both Scott and Charles on fund research, portfolio trading, and sitting on the investment committee.  Prior to Gemmer, Michael worked as an analyst for both J.P. Morgan and Credit Suisse in San Francisco.  Michael, a CFA® charterholder, received a B.S. degree in Industrial Technology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (2006).

Patti Mullin 

Chief Compliance Officer

Patti joined Gemmer in 2021 and serves as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer. Prior to Gemmer, Patti served as Senior Compliance Officer at Human Interest Advisors and Personal Capital Advisors, both in San Francisco. She received an M.B.A. from Saint Mary’s College (2016), and a B.S. in Business Administration from CSU Sacramento (1989). In her free time, Patti enjoys hiking in the foothills of Mount Diablo, working out at the gym, and spending time with friends and family.

Lexie Forster

Operations Manager

Lexie joined Gemmer in 2014 and serves as the firm’s Operations Manager, overseeing client services and operations. She enjoys working directly with clients and researching and resolving complex customer issues. She earned her B.A. in Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2013.

Lexie was born and raised in the Bay Area. She has been an avid horseback rider since the young age of 5 and has owned her horse (Kenny) for over 15 years. When away from the office or the barn, Lexie can be found taking her dog (Asta) out on adventures by foot or boat. 

Sherilyn Ng 

Operations Associate

Sheri joined Gemmer in 2020 as an Operations Associate, and has over 25 years of customer service experience.  She is responsible for client services and performs daily operational tasks. Sheri earned her B.S. in Business Management from the University of Phoenix in 2007.  In her free time, she enjoys going on new adventures with her family and spending time with loved ones. 

Brooke Skidmore

Operations Associate

Brooke joined Gemmer in 2021 as an Operations Associate. Before joining Gemmer, she was an Operations Assistant for Brilliant Earth at their headquarters in San Francisco. Brooke received her B.A in Communication Studies from San Francisco State in 2019. When she is not at work, Brooke enjoys sewing, painting, cooking and DIY projects. She also enjoys spending quality time with her husband Sean and dog Rex. 

Vanessa Leon 

Operations Associate

Vanessa joined Gemmer in 2022 as an Operations Associate, and is responsible for client services. She earned her B.A in Sociology from Mount Holyoke College in 2016. Vanessa was born and raised in Oakland, CA and is fluent in Spanish. She enjoys morning hikes and has recently explored her interest in rock climbing.

Cat Wright 

Client Advisor Associate

Cat joined Gemmer in 2023 as a Client Advisor Associate. In 2022, she graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Finance. She then went on to earn her Master of Science with a Concentration in Family Financial Planning and Counseling in 2023. While at Alabama, Cat was a member and captain of the Women’s Swim Team. In her free time, Cat enjoys trying new recipes and baking sweets of all kinds.
